Meet Bhuvana Rai

Bhuvana is an experienced, practical lawyer with a diverse practice.

Bhuvana brings a wide range of legal knowledge and tax experience from her previous roles at a national firm and a Big 4 accounting firm. As former Crown counsel at the Department of Justice, Bhuvana brings unique insight into navigating the audit, appeals, and litigation process from within the CRA. She was a former clerk to the Justices of the Tax Court of Canada.

With broad expertise in a variety of income and excise tax matters, she provides advice throughout the tax process, including: identifying and minimizing audit risks; responding to CRA inquiries; objecting to assessments; and escalating disputes to provincial courts when necessary. Bhuvana also provides estate planning services and is experienced at drafting complex trusts and wills.

Bhuvana is an active member of the tax law community, frequently speaking at legal conferences, and writing about tax. Her timely insights on tax law have been featured on CTV, the Globe and Mail and Maclean’s magazine.
